BBQ hints and tips to set you up for success
- When cleaning your BBQ cut out needless scrubbing by pouring ice on the grill, a little at a time when it’s heating up. This will lift the fat from the metal (not for use on the coal variety) and it will roll off. Beware of steam! This top tip really works.
- Always leave any wooden skewers soaking in cold water for at least 1 hour before use, this will ensure they will not burn or catch fire!
- For really succulent chicken, duck or ribs boil the meat for 45 mins, marinate and then BBQ. This will really infuse the flavours and ensure that your ribs or poultry are always cooked through.
- Try and prepare in advance. This is easier said than done I know, but if recipes call for a marinade, try to do it the day before.
- The best ingredients really need little or no preparation. Sardines for example only really need grilling until cooked then add a good squeeze of lemon. Voila!
