BELLY DANCING

Belly dance originates from the Middle East and one of the most common misconceptions of belly dance is that it is a sexual dance intended to entertain the men. However, due to the segregation of the sexes in these countries men rarely witnessed it.
When I first began belly dancing I looked at the sparkly outfits and decided that my tummy was never being shown in one of those! However 6 weeks later I purchased my first one and currently have a packed double wardrobe! Without a doubt belly dancing improves body confidence and gives us more positive attitudes about ourselves. None of us are ever content with the way we look but, however, belly dance makes the most of what we have. I now don’t even consider my tummy and I have ladies who are in a similar position. I also have ladies who have always been conscious of their chests and have hunched to disguise their assets, who now walk tall confidently.
For my classes it is about the social aspect as much as the dancing. We have fun whilst learning new skills, revisiting skills already acquired and learning choreographies in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The belly dance community here is very welcoming and I enjoy being a part of it. We are all committed to helping you to learn a new skill, make new friends and, most importantly of all - enjoy ourselves.
