The festival season is well under way and Bestival is continuing to build on the success of last year, shaping up to be a truly exciting event once again. Taking place at Robin Hill Park, the venue offers a great backdrop for what can only be described as a fantastic lineup. Mainstage headliners include Dizzee Rascal, The Flaming Lips and The Prodigy. Others acts include Roxy Music, the Cuban Brothers, Marc Almond, Echo and the Bunnymen, even Rolf Harris is making an appearance!
There are over 50 acts appearing in the Big Top, including classic eighties pop sensation Howard Jones and other stages around the site have over 150 other artists performing live throughout the weekend. It looks like it will be the best yet.
Demand for tickets has been so high this year that the whole event was sold out months ago, so if you have a ticket make sure you keep it in a very safe place! Bestival is going green. Recipient of an “Outstanding Greener Festival” Award in 2009 (one of only 13 festivals worldwide to achieve this top level award) the organisers at Bestival are going step further this year to create the most eco-friendly environment to date with a host of great initiatives being rolled out across the site. From solar powered backstage “plug ins” for the artists to suppliers’ stalls being run by Isle of Wight Bio Diesel made from the used cooking oil from the 2009 event. Having signed up to 10:10, the organisers are committed to reducing the festival’s carbon footprint by 10% in 2010 See our review in the next issue as to their success.
