On the 10th of February the LGBT community and its supporters came together to celebrate the launch of Pride on the Island.
Despite the cold weather over 200 people came through the doors of Coburgs to join the party – including some fantastic glittery rainbow beards! Once inside we were treated to an array of performances including; The Ventnor Darlings, Peter ‘Proud Mary’ Andrews, Head Funk, King Stammers and Isabelle L’Amour.
The atmosphere on the night was fun, friendly, and welcoming. We came away feeling very proud of the Island and excited for events to come.
The Pride Committee have announced the first speakers and performers for the Pride event on July 15th 2017. Peter Tatchell, Justine Smithies, and Linda Riley are confirmed to speak, and Horse Mcdonald will be performing.
More announcements to be made over the coming weeks.
“Great to see that the LGBT community have had the confidence to come out and enjoy a night of celebration together. Tonight has been a demonstration of how inclusive the Island is, and it’s just the start of events for the LGBT community and its supporters.”

Pride on the Isle of Wight is long overdue! I’m really pleased the LGBT community is being represented – we’re creating a better future for young people of the Island.
An amazing celebration of the start of Pride on the Island – it has been a long time coming! This is not just a celebration of the LGBT community, but for inclusivity and tolerance for all. We need more love in the world!
Love what Pride represents. We should all be encouraged to be who we are!
Amazing turn out to tonight’s event. Really enjoyed seeing and engaging with so many members of the LGBT community. The Police are proud to be involved in and support Pride.
