Calling all budding Roald Dahls, Jacqueline Wilsons and Michael Morpurgos…
Style of Wight is proud to announce a brand new and exciting competition for children.

The magazine is offering young Island authors the chance to have their prize-winning stories published in a new literary competition.
Specifically for children aged between 8 and 16 years of age, this competition aims to encourage youngsters to submit 500 original words on any subject or any theme and to stretch their story telling minds. Style of Wight will work closely with Island schools to encourage children to participate in what we hope will become an annual event.

Age categories will be 8 to 12 years and 12 to 16 years.
Entries should be submitted by 5pm on the 8th of December and we will announce the shortlist for finalists in our January / February issue. Entries will be judged by a panel of professionals and there will be a prestigious prize-giving award ceremony as Quay Arts at the end of January 2018.

We will be publishing the winning entries in a book which will be available from March with all profits going to local Isle of Wight children’s charities.

Entries should be submitted to; editor@styleofwight.co.uk
or posted to; Style of Wight, 21 Holyrood Street, Newport, PO30 5AZ

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young budding authors to show the magical world they have stored inside them and we will be delighted to sell the published book.”

“As part of the Cultural Education Partnership we are working together with many other agencies across the Island to ensure that young people experience a whole wealth of cultural experiences and this competition will certainly do that. Writing is one of the most accessible of all the arts, no fancy bits of equipment needed, just an imagination and something to write with.
To the entrants I would say: Surprise us!”

Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies and individuals to get fully involved with the competition.
Your company logo or name will appear on all materials associated with the competition and you will be listed as a sponsor in the published book.
